For most dogs and their owners, the best way to learn new behaviors and habits is through private lessons, with the owners teaching the dogs themselves. Training lessons are a wonderful way to build or strengthen the relationships between dogs and their families!

But maybe...

...your dog does more challenging behaviors that you can't figure out how to fix.

...your dog's training plan is so time-consuming you can't find a way to fit it in your busy schedule.

...you need your dog trained more quickly and don't have time to learn all the ins and outs of how to do it yourself.

If this sounds familiar, Board and Train may be right for you!

Alabama Dog Academy's Board and Train Programs:

Your dog will live in Elizabeth's house 24/7 - no outdoor kennels means that your dog will brush up on house manners, in a real home.

With no more than two Board and Train dogs at a time, and 10 years' experience boarding and training dogs in a kennel setting, Elizabeth will give your dog plenty of one-on-one attention, exercise, and enrichment during his stay.

Elizabeth's Positive Reinforcement Training techniques means you can be sure your dog will not suffer physically or psychologically in the name of training... AND you will see results!

All programs include follow-up private lessons, to transfer the skills your dog has learned!*
You wouldn't:
Hire a lawyer just to teach you how to defend yourself in court.

Damage the relationship between yourself and your children when they go to school.
Stay in a familiar environment and expect to quickly change long-time habits.

So why not consider whether Board and Train is the right option for you and your dog?

Board and Train Programs are designed for dogs who:
May be reactive toward other dogs

Do hyperactive behaviors such as jumping, nipping, demand barking, etc.

Need more consistency in their training

Need more expert handling for advanced skills such as service dog training

Have owners who are willing to maintain the behaviors the dog learns at Board and Train, and even work to improve those behaviors further*

Board and Train Programs are NOT effective for dogs who:
Have separation anxiety and/or cannot be left in a crate

Are young puppies less than 5 months old

Are aggressive toward humans (i.e. have a bite history)

Have severe fears/phobias, such as storm phobias

Have owners who are not willing or able to maintain the behaviors the dog learns at Board and Train, and allows the dog to slip back into old, inappropriate habits after he comes home*

*An important note:

Picture
It is important to keep in mind that Board and Train is only HALF the process toward training your dog. Most trainers can get dogs to work for them, but the other half of the process is teaching dogs to work with other people as well. No matter which Board and Train program your dog is in, or how long that program takes, you will still need to learn to do follow-up training at home. Dogs are not programable robots, they are constantly learning and it is important that you learn how to communicate with your dog the same way the trainer did.

One significant feature that sets Alabama Dog Academy's Board and Train program apart is the follow up training with clients and their dogs in their homes.
Follow up training is included and required in all Alabama Dog Academy Board and Train programs.
