Code of Conduct

For working with animals, children, and families.
Alabama Dog Academy strives to keeping animals, children, and families safe through all interactions. Because of the intimate nature of home-based private lessons, here are some rules that anyone associated with Alabama Dog Academy - staff, volunteers, and clients - are expected to follow when interacting together: 
Encouraged Interactions
  • ​Giving generous praise, encouragement, and acknowledgement 
  • Asking permission to touch
  • ​Asking permission to photograph/video, and receiving verbal approval before sharing the photo/video
  • Giving side hugs, handshakes, and high fives
  • Warmth and kindness
  • Responsible adults present at all times
Prohibited Interactions
  • Risque jokes or profanity
  • Favoritism, such as gift giving to an individual child
  • ​Private interactions through social media, computer, or electronic devices
  • Any touching of personal areas
  • Raised voices in anger, except in emergencies
  • Corporal punishment of any kind​
